Over the past five weeks, DeBarber Field has been undergoing a major renovation project that is on pace to be completed by Oct. 1. Seymour received a state grant for the project last year. The total cost of the renovations is $1.895 million.

Seymour Turf committee chairman and town Deputy First Selectman Nicole Klarides-Ditria said Tuesday that the FieldTurf is getting delivered sometime next week.

“We haven’t had any major setbacks,” said Klarides-Ditria. “We haven’t had a lot of rain this summer.

It takes upward of 10 days to install. New bleachers will be added upon completion of FieldTurf being put down the second week of September. The bleachers will be compliant with the American for Disabiilties Act and there will be wheelchair accessible ramp put in place. There will also be a new track installed.

The Wildcats’ football team will open the season against Watertown on Sept. 11. According to Klarides-Ditria, “Oxford High graciously offered us the use of the field for free.”

No other schedule home football games have been moved, as of yet.
